How to Conceive a Baby Girl – The Shettles Method
The Shettles Method of Conception has proved very successful for many couples wanting to know how to choose the gender of their next baby - the method attracts much positive feedback from couples that have tried this method. The procedure places emphasis on the periodicity of love making between the couples. Detailed advice about this 'timetable' is given in Dr.Shettles’ book. A disclaimer is also mentioned stating that failure to adhere to advice provided reduces the chances of the female gender. The basic concept behind the procedure is simply that the male sperm are tinier, but move at a faster rate than the larger female sperm. This basis of gender selection to determine the gender of the baby was first proposed by him.
The Shettles Method recommends 3 primary ways to help conceive a girl. The first rule is to find out the exact time of ovulation. Intercourse closer to ovulation will decrease chances of conceiving a girl.
In his Part Three of his book ‘How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby’, Dr.Shettles goes into detail on how to chart the cervical mucus. Shettles suggests that the woman use Basal Body Temperature charting along with charting the cervical mucus in order to pinpoint when she is ovulating, using a basal thermometer. Couples need to indulge in intercourse 2 to 3 days before ovulation in order to increase their percentage of a girl, and need to make a record at least two months before the record can be put to use.
The last and the final way Shettles recommends in his how to conceive a baby girl methods is to pin-point the time of ovulation is by the method of Ovulation Predictor Kits which detect when the body has released LH (Luteinizing Hormone), a precursor to ovulation. Dr. Shettles offers in-depth explanations on how to interpret the kits in his book so it is preferable to read it. Store bought ovulation kits can, however, cost quite a bit.
