How To Overcome Depression Without Medication
Depression is something that many people struggle with everyday. If you have never been depressed than it is hard to imagine what life is like for those who have. Everything becomes a chore, sometimes even getting out of bed takes everything you have. In extreme cases medication is prescribed but for those who are interested in a more natural approach then here are some ideas.
People that are serious about doing what it takes to overcome depression are usually open to new ideas or at least ideas that don't involve going to some doctor that simply wants to prescribe medication as a first attack. There are so many causes of depression that to think that some SSRI is going to be the magic cure-all in every case is ludicrous.
There are many effective therapies to help overcome depression and anxiety for that matter, that they should both be approached from a multi-angled attack. Often the reason for depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain but there are many activities that improve the brains chemistry in general that even if they don't eliminate the depression entirely, they are almost guaranteed to at least improve the situation in some way if not in many ways.
Exercise is almost a cure-all. There are so many benefits to exercise that if everyone would simply do that one thing everyday the medical establishment would go bankrupt. Nutrition plays a very important role in the body’s functions including the body’s ability to regulate itself hormonally. Nutrition and exercise together will have an absolutely amazing effect on depression and in fact on many maladies.
The problem is that even when people think they are eating healthy they usually aren't. Even if you eat your nine to twelve servings of vegetables each day, if you are not getting them from truly 100% organic sources then they are sorely depleted from the proper nutrient profile. One trick to ensure you get the nutrients you need without consuming twenty pounds of vegetables each day is to juice the vegetables. So in closing it is a great idea to eat healthy, exercise daily, and get plenty of rest, once you have mastered all of these things and you are still depressed then it might be time to go to the doctor but not a minute before.
