Angular Cheilitis Can Really Be Treated

The term Angular Cheilitis may sound unfamiliar to many people, but there are chances you have seen a lot of people who have this problem. You may think of Angular Cheilitis treatment when you have a severe chapping of the lips, around lips area especially at the corner of the mouth. It has been diagnosed that it is caused by yeasts, fungi or bacterial infection. It is not a serious problem but it is indeed very painful, uncomfortable and bothersome to have. It causes redness, swelling and chapping. Some people find it very hard to take because they have difficulty eating, inconveniences when working and hanging out and even in oral care and hygiene.

Are you at risk? Well, actually there are some specific groups of people that can contract Angular Cheilitis easier than the others. Those who lack vitamin B, and also babies and toddlers who are with pacifiers or people using dentures are more at risk than anyone else. These are very good environments for bacteria and fungi to grow.

Normally, you can buy anti-fungal cream for that at a pharmacy. These kinds of medications can be found easily. The cream is for applying only and not for oral use, you need to apply it a few times day while following the instructions. In between, you have to stop doing things that may worsen the situation. Licking your lips will only make things worse, so avoid that. Applying lip moisturizers is not recommended even for the cracking of the lips. All of that is due to the fact that Angular Cheilitis is not necessarily caused by dry skin. On the other hand, it is cause by the warmness and moisture of the lips areas.

Don’t worry if you really have it. After a while if it doesn’t go away with anti-fungal cream, you may need to go see a doctor and they will definitely a give you a good Angular Cheilitis treatment. Take a good care of yourself, strengthen your immune system to fight it off.
