Rapid Detox for Renewal
Health professionals the world over will tell you how important routine cleansing of the body, specifically the colon, is for good health. However what they won’t normally tell you is how to go about a rapid detox; a way of cleansing your body on your own with some normal, every day water and food.
Even though you should ideally consult your health practitioner for advice prior to embarking on this type of aggressive cleanse, I will share with you a program designed by Dr. Kiki Sidhwa, a Nutritional Doctor, with Oncology and Nutritional Health.
The beginning phase of this program calls for consuming not but purified water for the first 3 days. During this time, take it easy and rest up since this can be hard on your body.
The next phase in this plan includes eating fruit for 7 days. The key to remember is that you will be eating “monotropic”, or one fruit per meal. For example, at breakfast, eat only melons. At lunch, eat only citrus fruits. Before dinner, enjoy fresh carrot juice, preferably pureed in your own home for maximum freshness. For dinner, eat only pears, apples, banana's or grapes but only one fruit and as much as you like, until you are full.
It is important to note that you may feel lightheaded or nauseous while you are detoxing. This is a normal detox symptom as will be cleaning out your digestive tract. Your activity levels must be light and you should drink plenty of water.
The third and last phase of this rapid detox diet includes doing the following for one month: eating acid-bearing fruits (oranges, apples, plums, etc.) for breakfast (you can mix them up during this phase); for lunch eat grapes, pears, bananas, mangoes, and dates plus include at least ½ to one full head of lettuce along with a couple of celery sticks, raisins, and dried figs or apricots.
For dinner, a nice, big salad is encouraged and can include pretty much any kind of lettuce you enjoy with tomatoes and other vegetables along with an olive-oil based dressing. As a topper, sprinkle it with unsalted nuts like sunflower seeds, cashews or almonds.
Ultimately, after performing the above rapid detox, you should feel very energetic and have the ability to evacuate your bowls more regularly. Though there are lots of plans out there, I find this one to be the most effective.
