Love that Fast Food
The more fast food and fat we eat, the worse it can be for our health. However, it is a constant battle we fight because our culture lauds and celebrates these foods.
When the doctor gives us the bad news that we need to change our eating habits or face the potential of poor health, the cognitive part of our being agrees that, yes, that's a good idea. After all, who in the world would want to die from severe high cholesterol and triglycerides?
However, being out and about in real life, can prove to be a challenge. As much as we might want to improve our culinary choices, we long to eat the dishes we love.
When we are out in the world, it can be doubly difficult as well. Take, for instance, the state and county fair. Eating at the fair is a long standing tradition and can include:
- Avocado fritters
- Fried twinkies
- Deep fat fried candy bars
- Deep fried ice cream
- Donut burgers
- Breaded and fried bacon
- Spam burrito
- Funnel cakes
Then, another potential pitfall of warm weather, is the outdoor barbecue. We are tempted not so much by the corn on the cob or watermelon, as we seek to devour:
- Rib eye steak
- Porterhouse grilled steak
- Sirloin beef BBQ
- T bone steak with sauce
To tempt us further, other very American foods include:
- Fried onion rings
- Home fried dill pickles
- Olive fritters
- Double battered deep fried french fries
- Fried Cadbury eggs
It can be downright difficult to get on the right track, but that is what the doctor requires of us. A good way to start is by keeping a food log, so that we are taking accountability for everything that passes through the portal of our mouth. Just the act of recording what we eat has been known to be helpful.
Keeping a calorie count as well, and recording how much fat is in each thing we eat is now made easier by the various apps that are available for ipads and smart phones. These are a couple of the ways how to cure panic attacks naturally, so that you are less concerned about the status of your diet.
