Health Benefits Of Chocolate

A lot of people think that chocolate is possibly one of the unhealthiest foods you can eat.  Sure, most of the chocolate you buy is full of ingredients that aren't healthy and the amount of cocoa solids is very low.  However the type of chocolate that you buy which is quality and high in cocoa solids is healthy for you.

Flavonoids are a type of phytochemical which can really benefit your health in a number of ways.  They can help reduce the possibility of blood clots and clogged arteries.  Plus they can help with the circulatory system.

Although caffeine is found in chocolate, there's isn't anything inherently wrong with this as long as you don't take too much of it. Another substance which is related to caffeine is Theobromine which can help you stay alert due to the fact that it's a mild stimulant.

One of the reasons people love to eat chocolate is perhaps the effects they get from the Serotonin that's in it.  It can really lift your mood and make you feel great because of the increased endorphins. Tryptophan is also present in chocolate and is a precursor to Serotonin .

Please remember that not all chocolate bars are the same and eating 10 bars of chocolate a day is not the way to a healthy lifestyle.  There are other ways of getting these healthy ingredients such as eating different varieties of fruit and vegetables.  Don't forget to also eat seeds and nuts plus drinking green tea is great too.

A lot of people who read about the benefits of chocolate think it's just an excuse to gorge themselves on it all day and to make easy biscuits from scratch.  This isn't a good idea, especially if you live a pretty sedentary lifestyle.  Those who are energetic can get away with eating more calories without putting on weight.
