Cooking Gluten Free Food

Gluten free food doesn’t have to be dull by any means! It might be sound tough to not be able to eat most breads and pastas, but there are thousands of other tasty and proven gluten free recipes you could choose from.

Gluten free cooking may take some getting used to, but it will grow on you with time. There are plenty of completely natural foods you can choose from, fresh fish, poultry and other meats is a start. Natural cheeses and eggs are also great. When purchasing from the store, be sure to check the labels for any additives or seasonings in the product that may contain gluten. In general, try to get as natural foods as much as possible, if the food has been commercialized, chances are that a gluten additive may have been added to the product.

For vegetarians, many nuts and seeds are fine to eat. There are also legumes as well as tofu to help provide protein. Fresh vegetables and fruits do not contain gluten so you won’t have to worry about eating those. Potatoes are also a good source of all around nutrition, and you can base your meal around them.

Some grains contain gluten, but there are many gluten-free grains as well, some of them are rice, corn, risotto, buckwheat, and millet to name a few. With these grains it’s easy to create great tasting gluten free food, from fried rice all the way to corn tortillas and tacos. Pasta that has been made from brown rice can also be eaten, along with many types of Asian noodles.

Many starches are also available when create gluten-free food, these include tapioca starches, tapioca, cornstarch, wheat starch, potato starch, and arrow root. Sweet rice flours can also be used when thickening sauces or making gravy. You can even find gluten free cream of mushroom soup recipes.

If you're on a gluten free diet, it doesn't have to be boring at all! Find some good recipes, do some experimenting, and you'll be having a blast in no time!
