Aloe vera has been used for thousands of years for various medical conditions. Some of the conditions which aloe vera is used for are kidney stones, skin and scalp problems, peptic ulcers and bowel disorders. There are also records of aloe vera being taken into the body orally in Chinese and Japanese traditions. Aloe vera juice benefits are numerous but even if it is a natural product, you should be aware of the dangers it can present to your body. It can be very hazardous too.

Aloe vera is a potent laxative and this is according to the National Institutes of Health. This is because of an active chemical compound found in aloe vera called anthraquinone. This compound makes aloe vera an effective treatment for constipation, however this also causes diarrhea in some people. If a person uses aloe vera as a laxative for more than a week, he or she will suffer from suffer from a much worse problem of constipation.

Ingesting aloe vera can also be toxic in some cases. According to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, ingesting too much aloe vera can cause abnormalities in electrolyte levels. This can be very dangerous for people who are suffering from heart conditions, diabetes and kidney problems. People who drink aloe vera juice for more than a few days should be monitored for any harmful change in their electrolyte levels. If the body has low levels of potassium, it could suffer from abnormal heart rhythms and muscle fatigue.

There are also various aloe vera gel uses and benefits but it is best to consult a doctor before using any products containing aloe vera. Some people may have adverse reactions to it resulting in itchiness and rashes, although most of the general population has no problems with aloe vera.

Aloe vera can be very helpful but it can also be very dangerous.
