Natural Skin Remedies for Breakfast
Who knew you could get a double dose of healthy at breakfast with oatmeal and coffee. Besides being heart healthy, plain oats are great for dry skin, as are the used coffee grounds from your coffee pot. Note that I said plain oats. For these natural treatments neither instant oatmeal nor instant coffee will work.
With oatmeal you have a couple of home remedies for very dry skin. First, you can make an oatmeal facial mask and secondly you can soak in an oatmeal bath. You have your choice of hundreds of recipes online for oatmeal masks that give you the option to either cook the oatmeal or leave it plain. If you leave the oatmeal plain you are going to need something to hold it together like egg whites. No matter which way you choose you can also add other skin healthy items like baking soda or olive oil to boost up the dry skin relief even more.
With the oatmeal bath you need to prepare the dry oatmeal a bit. It needs to be in a fine powder to dissolve in the water. To do this just use a blender or coffee grinder. You can even make big batches to keep some by your bath so you don't have to do this every time. A good oatmeal bath takes about a cup of oats. Oatmeal baths work wonders on the skin and can be used as a natural baby eczema treatment. Be sure to moisturize after.
Finally take those coffee grounds out of the pot and store them away for a decent exfoliate. You can store them in a muslin bag that can be taken in the shower or sat by the sink to use when ready. As with the oatmeal bath make sure you moisturize after using the coffee grounds. Moisturizing should be done after any exfoliation treatment.
