Different Ways of Remedying Acne

Acne comes in many forms: pimples, blackheads, pustules, and whiteheads. These little beauties can appear all over the body, mostly in areas that have clogged pores. Although there are contributing factors that may aggravate the acne condition, the main cause for its development is due to excessive sebum that gets clogged underneath the skin. This sebum accumulates bacteria leading to inflammation. However acne is not the worst threat because there are a lot of treatments than can be applied to it.

For the conventional remedy, taking a drug that contains tretinonim can help to alter the growth of oil glands, thus preventing excessive oil formation. For severe acne conditions a drug known as isotretinoin can help to eliminate acne problems.

But for some who prefer the traditional way of acne remedy, here are some of the easiest ways to do it. Wash your face regularly with benzoyl peroxide; it is a good cleansing agent for the skin. Avoid applying make-up on the acne infected area, the same goes for products that contain oil as a main ingredient. Avoid also scratching or pricking the acne infected area because this will only cause scarring and infection. Products that contain salicylic acid are also good to cleanse and kill bacteria.

Some may prefer herbal remedies. Herbal remedies are usually considered to have fewer side effects than drugs from a pharmaceutical company. Some herbal remedies include tea tree oil, aloe vera, lemon juice, and orange peels. These acne remedies cleanse the skin, heal the scars and lesions caused by the acne, and kill bacteria that are known to cause acne.

Food and vitamin therapy is another good way to cure acne. Always keep a healthy diet by eating foods that contain beta carotene, which helps promote healthy skin. Taking daily supplements such as Zinc that helps reduce inflammation and heals the wounds quickly is also a good idea. There is also Vitamin A which helps to reduce sebum or oil, Vitamin E which is a known as an antioxidant and vitamin, and Vitamin B6 that helps in body metabolism of hormones.

Some home remedies for acne include taking bland foods such as oatmeal, apple, and basmati rice. Other therapies also include aromatherapy with tea tree oil as main ingredient, juice therapy, and reflexology.

Treating the acne problem can be done a lot of ways; from the traditional way, to natural and herbal, and to therapy. Whatever acne sufferers choose all these treatments require discipline and patience to see the desired results.
